Mrs. Bennet (née Gardiner) is a character in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Her main concern is the marriage of her five daughters, and she makes many mistakes and displays much social impropriety in her attempts to set the girls up with eligible men.
Mrs. Bennet is a silly woman, and her daughters, Lydia and Kitty, probably got their silliness from their mother. Mrs Bennet is always complaining about her nerves and what she suffers.
